Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school has old, slow, and obsolete computers. I need a laptop for our students to use. We have planned many school-wide events such as write proposals, research articles, and have discussion on topics. Our current computers have become unusable; we need the support of everyone.

My students attend a public school in a large urban area in which 100% of the students are considered low-income.

Regardless of economic background, my students are dynamic, thoughtful, and hard-working. They are very interested in science and math. With a laptop in our classroom, we are going to be able to do a lot of research about scientific topics and questions. I am able to use the laptop to design and present lessons to support my students' math and language arts curriculum. My students only have one desktop computer in our classroom.

My Project

With a new laptop, we will be able to continue to use an amazing technology in our classroom. They will be able to research on the Internet, play interactive learning games, read projectable books, view educational videos from our online video library, and save the work they have done in class. They will learn how to use the Internet to conduct research. They will also be able to use the laptop to activate their prior knowledge, expand their learning, and open the door to concepts and themes which they are not familiar with. The laptop will support the students' learning and increase their awareness in the importance of embedding technology on a daily basis.

The laptop will benefit the students' learning in various ways.

Students will be able to use it to conduct research for their projects and be able to use the laptop to display their projects to the rest of their classmates. The laptop will enlighten the lessons since the laptop will connect to our existing document reader and projector to allow us to display PowerPoint presentations, streaming videos, and curricular lessons from the new math and language arts program.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
