Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine setting up your camera on a tripod, having your hands and mind free to dedicate all your attention to a project? That is what we need to be able to record our First Grade special moments during the school year.

My students attend a public magnet science school in California.

They are all economically disadvantaged students and English language learners, but they are all very motivated in their learning. They are wonderful kids, most of whom are already scoring above grade level. Their families have chosen our school because they want a better life for their kids and because they believe that education is the answer to a better future.

My Project

With the 2 tripods, 2 memory cards, and 1 camera bag, my students will be able to record themselves and take pictures of their daily activities and routines. By watching themselves in their video clips, they will be able to reflect on their performances in a way they haven't had the opportunity to do until now. They will record themselves in all sources of learning activities like reading fluency, speech improvement, poetry, music, theater etc. Their families will be able to see their video clips and pictures and see them in action. We'll be able to use their pictures for hundreds of projects throughout the year.

To most kids my students' age, technology is a routine.

To my students, it is a dream that soon will become true. We already got a digital camera but we need the accessories to be able to make our new camera work. Please help my students experience with their own hands what they'll be able to do with our new digital camera and how their lives will be enriched by recording memorable moments from their First Grade lives.
