Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What better way to create a connection to Ancient World History than through the use of art. At the end of each unit, we produce art projects aligned to our history curriculum. Many of our students are visual learners, and greatly benefit from creating their own projects.

Our charter serves a population of students living in a high poverty neighborhood.

Many of our students lack the resources at home, so it is crucial that we provide them with the supplies necessary to enrich their learning. Not only do our projects allow our students to connect to our curriculum, but they are also creating an inviting learning environment for them.

My Project

With these 8 packs of construction paper, 2 packs of yarn, 24 scissors, 216 markers, 240 colored pencils, glue, tape, transparencies, paint, and 40 paint brushes our students will show evidence of learning the history curriculum by producing their own art projects ranging from Egyptian burial chambers, Greek urns, Alexander the Great's guide books to creating and empire, and Gupta Empire Achievements travel books. Not only will our students be able to internalize the curriculum presented to them, but they will also be able to explore their artistic side. We have to be creative in how we incorporate the arts into our classroom, and history based projects allow us to do just that. Our classroom projects provide our artists an opportunity to showcase their talents and our other students a forum explore the possibilities that art can bring into our classroom. All of these projects allow our students to create meaning from the content learned in class.

By supplying our students with these resources, you will be giving them an opportunity to internalize what they have learned.

Creating history based art projects allows our students with various learning styles to show evidence of learning. It creates an inviting learning environment, gives them something to proudly display. This is what makes learning fun for our students.
