Eager Readers Need More Materials to Read

My students need 10 subscriptions of Scholastic News and Scholastic Action to practice their reading skills and increase their knowledge of the world.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine reading a magazine that is colorful, vibrant and written at your specific reading level! The content is full of current events and interesting topics that you want to know more about but have previously struggled to comprehend in the regular textbooks.

My students are eager to learn and have bright futures despite the hardships they face.

My classroom has special education and English language learners along with students who are behind in their reading skills. Most of my students qualify for free lunch and they are being raised in a single parent or relatives' home. They will be successful with additional support from me and you!

My Project

Bring thought-provoking, in-depth news stories into the classroom with Scholastic News. In addition to current events, each issue includes political cartoons, vocabulary builders, standardized test preparation exercises, and "What Do You Think?" features students love. Scholastic Action is a language arts intervention magazine that inspires low-level readers with articles that support curriculum, Reader's Theater plays to improve oral fluency, real-life articles that teach life skills such as money management, reading comprehension quizzes and online resources. The reading level of the articles can be changed to meet the needs of each student. The subscriptions include an online, interactive website for each issue that the teacher can use to guide the entire class as well as online student versions.

These news magazines will help a child feel success while reading.

A taste of success is all they need to light the fire within and help them become voracious readers. A student with low reading skills is more likely to drop out of school than his or her peers. Knowledge is power and reading is the key to knowledge. Please help my students learn to unlock the key to reading!
