Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students from poor communities, like South Central Los Angeles, come to school with some many academic deficiencies and on-line assessments, like Dibels, are absolutely necessary in order to develop an accurate blueprint of instruction that transcends deficiencies and creates proficiency.

The majority of my students are poor inner-city English Language Learners who come to school with little or no English skills.

South Central Los Angeles is a tough place to live and a quality education is of paramount importance to both the individual student attempting to escape poverty and the community attempting to rebuild its image.

My Project

Modern Dibels is an on-line assessment that requires powerful tablet-computers with touch screens, however the Los Angeles Unified School District, facing continuous budget cuts, is unable to to provide all schools and teachers with this technology. Desktop computers with a mouse are too slow to assess students properly and improper assessments do not provide teachers with an accurate blueprint of a student's academic needs. A powerful Samsung tablet computer would be a very valuable tool to assess the academic needs of my entire class and allow me to individualize instruction for each and every student in order to maximize their potential.

If equipped with a powerful Samsung tablet computer I could assess quickly and accurately the needs of my students, and therefore, individualize their instruction.

My ability to enter the twenty-first century of assessment lies in your hands.
