Team tables has been my focus for this entire school year. I decided last summer that I wanted to move to tables and get rid of the individual desks. I felt it was becoming very important to teach the children about teamwork and collaboration in today's very technological world.
I am the luckiest teacher ever!
I get to spend entire days with 20 of the most fabulous students there has ever been. These students are part of a Title 1 school and resources are needed. Despite this fact, they are hard-working, well-behaved, and oh so kind. They deserve to come to school everyday and love what they are doing. I do my best to give them everything they need to be the best learners they can possibly be.
My Project
I am asking for a new table - a Team Table. This table seats six students and would be perfect for group work. Science experiments will be executed without worry as the uneven desks will no longer be a variable. Reader's Theater scripts will be practiced in a much more comfortable manner. Collaborative writing lessons will be performed with ease and civic responsibilities will be enforced on a daily basis.
In addition to all of the above, the students will learn, first-hand, what it means to be part of a team.
With our behavior plan, they will learn how a team helps ALL of its members succeed. They will learn the social skills that are needed to get along with everyone and/or the strategies that are needed when getting along is not working. It is truly amazing how one little piece of furniture can make such a big difference!
