This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Technology is the future of how we interact in the world, and computers are now an integral part of our daily lives. As computers become more advance, we need to continue to learn how to keep up with the advancing technology.

While most middle class schools have the advantage of technology at their fingertips, we are not so fortunate.

Unfortunately, we are in a low social economic school with very limited access to technology. My students have very little access to the advances of technology such as computers. The school’s population is 98% Hispanic and the majority of students are second language learners. Most of our students have very few opportunities to use computers, tablets, and laptops since most of them do not have Internet or computers at home. These tools can enhance students learning. We try to bring technology to the classroom but our classroom has only one computer and it is difficult to provide everyone with time to practice keyboarding and moving around the screen on a daily basis.

My Project

The more opportunities my students have to engaging with technology, the better rounded individuals they will become. Plus, the more exposure my students have to computers, the more they will improve in reading and math skills. With a laptop, my students could have access to differentiated lessons at their own level. Each student could practice their math skills with interactive math games that their own pace. They can also practice their reading fluency with books on-line.

I love working in the school that I teach, because I believe I can help improve the lives of my students.
