Hands on Math to Brighten Our Eyes

The cost of two sets of math manipulatives for this proposal is $464, including shipping and <a target="new" href="http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm" onclick="g_openWindow('http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm', 300, 800, 'fulfillwindow');return false;">fulfillment</a>.

Have you ever been sitting and thinking man I wish I had something to help explain my point? Like a picture of a baseball player that someone asks you about. Well imagine sitting in your classroom and trying to teach about 3 dimensional figures but you don't actually have a figure to show them, or trying to teach fractions without any kind of actually thing to look at. Well, welcome to my class. Don't get me wrong our school does have math manipulative's but the problem comes in when we all have to use them. They are shared by the whole school. At times it is OK. You just go to the workroom and get what you need, but most of the time you run into problems. Sometimes they are being used by another teacher or by three other teachers. You have to hunt them down and then hope that they don't need them that day. If you do find them then you hope that there are actually enough for your whole class. I guess what I am getting at is the fact that it would benefit my class greatly to have our own classroom set of some of the more used math manipulative's. I would help my students get a better understanding of the math world that surrounds them! Thank you for your time and consideration!
