This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The only time I feel alive is when I'm painting," Van Gogh said, and when I see my students painting, I see them come to life. With your donation they will express their opinions on issues that effect society all over the world.

Do you remember your art class?

For my students it's a place they can express themselves through their creativity and uniqueness. They are great artists and are very dedicated to producing artwork that demonstrates their artistic skills. For the most part the students produce artwork that meets the high expectations I have of them. They take my class very seriously as they would any of the core subjects.

My Project

My students will be using the brushes, paint and canvas to create artwork that will be addressing social issues around the world that they feel need more awareness by the public. As young adults they sometimes feel they don’t have a voice, but with your donation they will have the opportunity to use new materials to create expressive artwork. My students will be paired into groups of two, and after researching their social issue students will use the brushes and the paints to create the artwork. Twenty of the social issue topics will be elected to be done on a canvas, so they can be placed in a nonprofit social awareness-themed gallery in downtown LA

I believe my project is very important because the students will have an opportunity to express their interest in a social issue that they feel passionate about.

They will be able to apply their artistic skills they have learned throughout the year. Students will also learn about artists that have used art as a means of raising awareness on issues that affect society and the world. This will also be their final project of the year.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
