My Students

Do you enjoy reading on a daily basis? Do you understand the books you pick up and read? My students could use some resources to make decoding and comprehending what they read fun and enjoyable!

Currently I am teaching 23 regular and special education second graders in an urban classroom.

They are all wonderful students who love to learn and thrive on positive attention. Most come from broken households and have very little consistency in their home life.

My Project

I would love to gain resources to help my low level readers develop their decoding and comprehension skills. Currently our RTI resources are straight to the point and can be a little boring for the students at times. Gaining resources that would come across as games to them would ideally make them enjoy their RTI time with me. Having comprehension, vocabulary, and abbreviation skills will help develop the skills the students need to thrive in second grade.

Gaining these resources can help my low readers drastically.

Many of the students I teach do not have many books at home to read on their own time. Their parents are working at night making very little time for the students to read with someone at home. Having these resources can help change their outlook of reading for the rest of their lives. If I can help make reading fun and enjoyable for them, then they have potential to become life-long readers!
