This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We want to play tennis, but we can't play it with just our hands! Please, be our hero!

My students are sweet and inquisitive.

They love to learn. They ask many questions and try their best. To most of them, English is a second language. Our school is in a high-need and low social-economic urban area. There are metal fences everywhere.

My Project

We have no equipment for P.E. There isn't even a handball wall! Our playground is an empty concrete field. I want to bring tennis to them to give them fun and good health. Hopefully, a sport that they can continue to grow and make it part of their lives. Maybe one day, one of these kids will grow up to be a Serena Williams or an Andre Agassi.

We have started playing with some old tennis balls and a single junior racket.

They are excited about getting more equipments so that we can really start to learn to play the game. They already look forward toward Friday as their tennis day. These kids are between 5 and 6 years old. This is our best chance of giving them a great start in life. Let's put tennis in their hands as the very first sport that they played!
