Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students struggle to retain and apply new math concepts with money, fractions, time, geometry and the four operations.

I work with 15 students (grades 1 -5) who have different learning disabilities such as ADHD and specific learning disabilities.

All of these students enjoy math and most find it easier since there is less reading and it is more hands on. They all want to make major progress by the end of the year and dedicate themselves to participating in their education.

My Project

In order to meet the various levels and skills of my students, these math centers will provide hands on activities. They will be able to apply their knowledge and explore the major areas of mathematics including geometry, money, fractions, operations and time.

I currently print materials such as games, find online resources, use manipulatives and worksheets to provide engaging learning experiences for my students.

These math centers will provide another resource that will address many different learning styles as well as levels. As I work with small groups of students, I will be able to have them each work on a skill at their level. I will also be able to monitor their understanding of that concept while they work on their center.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
