My Students

New years mean new beginnings. For my students, we are so lucky to start our new year in a new school building. During our transition to the the new school, our classroom rug was destroyed. I'd love the children to have a beautiful carpet to match their beautiful new beginning.

The kindergarten students in my class are full of life and energy.

They attend a charter school in its tenth year. In the new year, they started in a beautiful new building. My students are so excited for the new space we have. The children promise everyday to take care of our new room and respect our new space. It's amazing to see how much a larger space can affect the children's moods and behaviors. They are more focused and excited about learning. The larger room solves a lot of social issues and complaints from the children. The only space my students still bump into each other is our small replacement carpet.

My Project

A new and larger carpet will greatly enhance the students experience in our new classroom. Our old carpet that was destroyed seated all 22 students comfortably. Everyone had a space, and this resolved many issues that can occur between students. Everyday, we do real alouds and shared reading on the carpet. This creates a close community between students and teacher. We also do circle time on the carpet and math routines. Being that so many of our daily activities take place on the carpet, a larger carpet will help these activities flow smoothly. Every child deserves a quality classroom space for learning. A new carpet will help the students with this new beginning.
