Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The earth is what we all have in common," is what Wendell Berry said and my students are learning to take care of our earth starting with our school campus.

My students are special need kids that range from ages 9, 10 and 11 years of age.

Their disabilities also range from autism to hard of hearing students of all stages. They attend a public school in the state of California, where much poverty occurs. They, like all of the other families in our neighborhood, struggle greatly and deserve nothing but the best.

My Project

I have requested shovels, brooms, buckets, and other resources used to beautify our campus. My students will truly benefit from all these great resources. They will be able to help our school in many different ways. As a 5th grade science unit "life science", students will be able to plant seeds, watch them grow and clean up our environment to make it a nicer and cleaner place for everyone to attend. They will also learn the importance of taking care of our planet, especially in our school.

By obtaining these tools my students will experience firsthand a science project and how important it is to keep our planet clean.

It will teach them how to plant plants, trees, and vegetables and allow them to feel proud of their work. It will also be a great inspiration to the rest of our school and help them understand the importance of keeping our campus clean and beautiful.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
