Read a, Read a, Read a, Read a Book to Me

My students need a set of book boxes and labels to organize our classroom library by easy to choose categories and reading levels.

My Students

Choosing a good book can be tricky, but you can help us make it easy and fun. Please help us build a kindergarten-friendly classroom library by supplying us with book boxes with clear categories and reading levels!

I have the pleasure of working with 18 wonderful Kindergarteners everyday.

They are full of energy and keep me going all day. Our school is located near Fort McCoy and so I have a number of students in my classroom that have a family member in the military. When it comes time for us to use our book boxes for Read to Self and Read to Someone, it can be hard for my kiddos to find the books they are interested in and able to read. Having a classroom library organized by categories like ABC books, number books, Curious George, and our favorite authors would help my students find what they are looking for right away. For my students with learning disabilities, the picture labels will help them connect the book to the subject easily. Additionally, having the reading level posted on the outside of every book would help my students know what books are "good fit books".

My Project

The book boxes and labels I am requesting would allow my students to be more self sufficient when choosing books to read. The labels will help them find a book at the correct reading level that will challenge them at their own level. Each book box would have a label depicting the book category such as the author (Eric Carle, Kevin Henkes, etc), ABC books, animal stories, science books, etc. I would then use the labels to post the reading level on each book.

This project is so important because it will help foster a love of reading.

The easier it is for my students to find books they enjoy reading, the easier it will be for them to love reading and learning. This set of book boxes and labels will help foster that love of learning.
