My Students

Help! We need sturdy book baskets for our class library. The baskets we have now are bent out of shape, and when the children shop for books the books fall out, and they are getting destroyed.

We are a second grade ICT class in NYC that has a combination of general education students and students with special needs.

We have a large class library with many leveled books to accommodate all the children. Our children love to read and are in and out of the book baskets every day. Because the baskets are falling apart, it is very difficult for many of the children to handle them independently. Independence is something we strive for in this ICT classroom setting.

My Project

These book baskets will definitely improve the appearance of our library. More importantly, they will help the students with their organizational skills, and help them to choose books independently without worrying about the books falling out of the baskets. Our students will also be able to participate in running the library by themselves. We assign jobs in our classroom to promote responsibility, however, because of the condition of our book baskets, we are unable to allow the students to be in charge of our library at this time.

We chose these baskets because we know how sturdy they are, and expect they will last for many years to come.
