My Students

Why is technology such an important part of today's classroom? My students are longing to find out. Our 19-inch VCR TV combo can no longer support their inquiring minds.

Our classroom is made up of twenty-six multi-age students from grades three through grades five.

We are an inquisitive group spending a great deal of time doing project based inquiries. We ability group students for math and literacy, and therefore there are approximately eighty different students in our classroom on a daily basis. Our group is part of a large public elementary school in a town of about 19,000. Historically our town has not been awarded much state aid, so we are forced to make do with what we have.

My Project

The projector that we are requesting will help to revolutionize our classroom by allowing us to bring many colorful characters, life size images, virtual field trips and much more to our classroom. Students will be enthralled as they are exposed to a variety of subjects in a more entertaining way. Students can visit websites where they will be exposed to the model drawing for mathematical problem solving. They may sing along to a video explaining the rock cycle, or possibly visit faraway lands while interacting with the text from their Journeys reading textbook. The impact on our 19 inch TV using a t-view hooked up to a personal computer certainly does not compare to the image that can be seen using the projector we are requesting.

The support of this project will help me get my students excited about different topics of study, especially science.

Being able to show, not just speak about various topics will allow students to become more engaged in their learning.
