Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember being little and wanting to learn how to read?

The students in my school live in high poverty and attend a Title I school.

Everyone in our school gets a free breakfast and lunch due to low economic status. Most of my students are English language learners. For some of my Kindergarteners, it is their first experience being in school.

My Project

My students need six Leapfrog Tag Reading Systems and a variety of books such as Go Diego Go, I Spy, Imagine that and Giraffes Can't Dance, to go along with them. I want to introduce my students to Leapfrog tag readers to get them excited about reading during center time. Most of my students are not read to at home because of the language barrier. For some of my students, the only time they are read to is during school. Providing tag readers and books will enable my students to listen to fun stories while learning how to read.

As a child I was always captivated by books.

I want to give my students a different way to listen to stories and motivate them to want to read. Why not give my students an opportunity that will last them a lifetime? They would really appreciate it and so would I. Thank you for taking the time in reading my project.
