My Students

Do you realize how many hours marching band students spend practicing? Starting in August these students practice 5 days a week to perfect their music and performance regardless of weather. Their talent and dedication are endless! They need good equipment to effectively compete.

Our marching band students are a group of highly motivated and dedicated students who share a love of music.

There are 100 students that comprise the band that must work together to pull together a complex show in a short timeframe. Having the appropriate equipment is key. The students participate in numerous fundraisers throughout the year to raise the money for their program and the fees for their participation. Given the current economy, 40% of our students are at or below the poverty level which puts an additional strain on the music program. The students take very good care of their equipment and make it last as long as possible. At some point, items have to be replaced and they are expensive.

My Project

Participating in the marching band keeps student involved in a productive activity, allows them to explore their love of music and joins them with a good group of students that support each other. Our school is proud to have a community that works to ensure that all students can participate in the instrumental music program by allowing fundraisers to pay for fees.

Helping our marching band obtain a new bass drum will reduce the burden on the students to raise even more money for this equipment.

They are already working so hard to pay fees and support the program so it can continue.
