Story Books and Props Needed to Enhance Story Telling!

My students need one Goodnight Moon Book and story props. One Umbrella Storysack, one Big Hungry Bear Storysack and one "Best Literacy bags set of seven".

My Students

I teach Kindergarten at a large urban school district. Our school is a high-needs status school with over 90% of our students qualifying for free and reduced lunches.

Most of my students are English Language Learners from low income homes.

They are eager to learn and love school. I want my students to learn to their fullest potential. I want them to always stay excited and committed to learning. Having these story telling books, props and kits will help my students stay motivating to learn.

My Project

The story props, books and kits that I am requesting will increase literacy skills. Reading stories a loud to students is of high importance to the emergent learner. It is neseccery to build language, sequence skills, story retelling and the pure enjoyment of listening to a story. Having props make this even more fun and exciting. It helps students to keep engaged in the story and helps them in story retelling skills. The story props and books will be used during whole group activities as well as small group activities. In addition students will also be able to use these props and books individually as well as with other students. They will be able to recreate and retell the stories using the props to jog memory skills.

The books and story prop kits that I am requesting will increase language, vocabulary, literacy and story retelling skills.

The props will engaged students in the story and add excitement and joy to learning to read.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
