This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine traveling to California is search of GOLD!!! My students will get to experience the exciting journey as Jack and his butler travel across the country to try and strike it rich in California.

My students are hardworking and caring.

They want to do well in school, but many of them struggle. Half of my class are English Language learners and most perform below grade level in most subject areas. Many of my students do not get any educational support at home and most don't have any books to read. I would like to help build a love of books, learning, and reading in all of them.

My Project

I would like to help build a love of books, learning, and reading in all of my students. With a class set of By the Great Horn Spoon! I hope to help foster their love of good literature. Through good books I want to show students that learning and history can be interesting and fun. While reading they will be able to picture/imagine what it would have been like during the California Gold Rush.

Through books students can be transported to a different place and time.

They can experience things through reading that they may never be able to experience in real life. A love of reading is a gift that can never be taken away. Each child will carry it with them for the rest of their lives.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
