Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As Dr. Seuss once said, “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” Each student is unique and learns differently, and this quote says that perfectly.

My students are a diverse group composed of several English language learners, differing abilities, and various cultural backgrounds.

The majority of them are filled with excitement every morning as they look forward to the day ahead. They enjoy the challenge of a new topic, and demonstrate terrific work ethics every day. I am very proud of my group of students. Their enthusiasm is contagious.

My Project

I have requested several reference materials, such as dictionaries and thesauri. These will aid my students in their reading and writing skills. Additionally, an organized library is essential in an effective, efficient classroom. I have asked for some book bins to allow me to better organize my classroom library. Teacher resources are valuable in creating diverse lesson plans, and I have requested two different titles. Lastly, my project includes a couple of word and sentence games that will help reinforce skills that my students must master in their second grade school year.

Current research emphasizes that children learn through exploration.

Growing up in poverty, my students don't often get the same opportunities as some of their more fortunate peers at other schools. I would love to provide my students with some materials that will help them explore the curriculum in ways they otherwise would not be able to.
