My Students

Broaden their horizons! Help our traditional and special needs students get the materials to experience printmaking for the first time!

These visual art students are happy to learn about different and interesting artists each day!

I teach traditional and special needs students, grades 9 through 10, who attend a public school in rural Southern Delaware. There is very little opportunity for students to experience and create non-traditional art, like printmaking. This district serves a high poverty population and it is my goal to connect academics to art while expanding their exposure to real world art application. Their eyes are opening to the vast world of visual arts!

My Project

Experience = Inspiration & Self-esteem!!! Studies have shown that students who experience art develop higher self-esteem and an overall positive outlook on life. My mission is for students to do individual and collaborative work to experience personal achievement and unity in diversity. Though our school district is currently in financial distress, we have an abundance of tools from previous years to allow for a positive printmaking experience! However, we need your help to acquire additional items for success. HELP OPEN THE DOORS!

I am passionate about art.

Art at its essence is expression and expression does not require that you "draw well". Great artists transform the unspoken into visual reality. Exposing my classes to printmaking will give them one more outlet for self-expression and exploration. These supplies will provide us with the materials to achieve what has thus far been impossible, to really engage students in a new and exciting medium...printmaking!
