Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want to impact what research supports about the importance of movement in educating both mind and body of children. I want to become equipped to teach physical education and contribute directly to child development of physical competence and fitness.

I teach in a community where the varied socio economic status creates a division of student athletic performance.

Implementation of fitness and sports days at our school has become a commitment to motivate all student populations to participate in outdoor play and sports. The less exposure to and experience with outdoor physical activity makes students at all levels experience less time engaged in activities in which they can have a high degree of confidence and authorship. Our school has committed to implement fitness days to educate the children through physical education. Our exercise program emphasizes the development of fundamental locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulative skills through the content areas of educational games, dance, and gymnastics. Our focus includes body, space, effort and relationship as core content to develop, expand, and refine the childrens' range of motor skills and fitness awareness.

My Project

These materials will help students make informed choices and understand the value of leading a physically active lifestyle. Through sports and physical education, I hope children will understand the benefits of physical education and how it can affect both academic learning and physical activity patterns of their lives. My goal is to empower the children to understand the importance to immerse themselves into the world of outdoor sports through physical education that will allow them to rediscover how fun and invigorating exercise and playing sports outdoors can be.

I am requesting equipment sets of bats, gloves, bases, soccer balls, goalie nets, tee ball holders and scrimmage vests.

These items will allow me to effectively immerse my students in the world of outdoor sports to impact the importance of movement in educating both mind and body of children. Teaching a well rounded physical education program with proper equipment will contribute directly to the development of physical competence and fitness.
