Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

War Horse will engage my fourth and fifth grade students the moment they begin to the end. They will be drawn to the relationship of the boy and a horse. The content of World War I will intrigue them immensely.

There is one class of fourth graders and one class of fifth graders.

The students like to read. There is a large percentage of boys who will be motivated by the content of World War I. The girls will be excited by the strong bond between the horse and the boy. It is a public elementary school in New York City.

My Project

The students will benefit from reading War Horse because they will learn about World War I and develop a passion for reading. Creative reading responses using text based information will be conducted after each chapter read. The students will learn about character descriptions and World WAR I .

It will be wonderful for each student to have a copy of the book, War Horse that they can highlight and annotate in.

Students will realize the power of reading and how it will make a difference in their lives.
