My Students

Spelling has always been a drill and practice or something you bring out the white boards to practice on. The problem with this is that it doesn't serve the purpose that students need in order to understand truly the spelling patterns that words are made up of.

There are many different ways that students learn different skills and concepts.

What I want to create is the chance for students to actually visualize how words are formed by identifying spelling patterns through the magnetic word building board. My school is located in a high poverty district in Illinois. I currently have 24 students in my classroom. My students really work hard to gain as much knowledge as possible. A lot of my students learn best by hands on activities which helps take their learning to the next level.

My Project

Through the magnetic word building board students are able to easily compose and decompose words and see easily different spelling patterns that are formed. This will allow students to take learning vocabulary and spelling patterns to a whole new level by easily identifying the different spelling patterns by the color coded letters. These boards will help all levels of learners achieve a better understanding of how words are built in a fun and easy way.
