This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine solving (15+x)256 = 4x+21-19x without a calculator under the pressure of the clock on the ACT. Help students be successful because they of their ability not based off their economic status.

I teach in a school on the border of Illinois and Wisconsin in a working class town.

My students are a very diverse group with a lot of potential but limited resources. Their ability to understand concepts is great, but without the proper materials they will face many obstacles on the road to success.

My Project

I'm requesting a very basic scientific calculator that includes trigonometric functions, square root and everything one might need for high school algebra 1, 2 and trigonometry. By having this calculator students Will not have to worry about the computational portion of math but instead the conceptual. I do not what their inability of quickly completing math facts to hinder their ability to correctly answer problems they know how to dude.

By having a classroom set of calculators my students will be knowledgeable about calculators and be successful on standardized tests and in class.

Currently my students are using whatever phones they have and those without phones are sharing calculators with other students.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
