This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember looking into a microscope for the first time and learning that there are tiny organisms that escape the naked eye. Help my students discover the microscopic world around them.

The majority of my students are English language learners.

They are eager to use technology and learn through the use of technology. They attend a public school from 8 am to 3 pm. They enjoy science lessons that include visual aids and real world examples.

My Project

We need a microscope in our classroom to learn about cells. This microscope will give students a first hand look at the cells that are part of living systems. This microscope will help students understand that cells are tiny living units that may be part of a much larger multicellular organism or may live as unicellular organisms in a pond. They will learn that animal cells, unlike plant cells, lack chloroplasts and cell walls. Students will be able to comprehend that their bodies are made up of cells. They will understand the important jobs that cells have in their body. Finally, they will understand how cells form complex structures such as tissues and organs.

This donation will make a large difference in my classroom.

For example, students will learn how to prepare microscope slides to view many different types of cells. In addition, students will learn to work with a microscope. They will learn the function of each part of the microscope and that microscopes allow different levels of magnification.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
