Help Us To Reduce Paper Waste In Math Class

My students need dry erase boards and markers so they can solve math problems daily without wasting valuable paper and in turn, help our environment.

Ms. S.
Grades 3-5

My Students

31 students x 2 = 62 pieces of paper used daily in math class. 62 x 180 days of school = 11,160 pieces of paper. That is over 22 reams of paper per year! That doesn't even count the paper used during other classes in the day. My students want to reduce our paper usage with this project.

My students come from a Title I school.

This means they are economically disadvantaged. However, this does not define them. They are intelligent, driven, and respectful citizens who want to make a difference in the way that we use our natural resources. They care about learning, but want to reduce the amount of paper we use in our classroom. They are keenly aware of the environmental issues in the world and want to effect change in this area.

My Project

My students understand that in order to comprehend math, it takes a lot of daily practice. They would like to continue to learn increasingly complex math instruction through erasable boards. Not only will they be saving paper, but it is a more efficient method of assessing immediately the concepts that students are struggling with. These dry erase boards will make an impact on our environment for future generations. They will learn math, responsibility for the environment, and community-building skills. Please help my students with this project.

These re-usable dry erase boards will save 22 reams of paper per year just for math class!

Year after year this will continue to add up as new classrooms enjoy the benefits of saving paper. Students will learn that their ideas to be environmentally friendly are valued by the community reading these projects and contributing to them. They are the future leaders who will continue to support responsible care of our earth's resources.
