My Students

When I met Mr. Stanec, he had all sorts of projects for me and wanted to have me work on them while he was away in Switzerland. One of those was a way to allow students to use Ipads. Unfortunately, he died in a hiking accident while there, and we are creating an iPad space as a memorial to him.

Our school is in the heart of a big city, and 65% of our students are on free or reduced lunch.

Many of our students seem to be reading more and more because their families have limited means to provide other entertainment. We would like students to have access to more personalized learning devices so they are better prepared for the future, while paying a tribute to our former principal.

My Project

We are planning to add this space as a memorial to Mr. Stanec in our Media Center. We will have a small plaque on the table which will memorialize Mr. Stanec and his love of learning, literacy and technology. We plan on having two iPads, and seating around the table so that students can use them to read or play educational apps during lunches and before and after school. My students need chairs and iPad docks.

The impact of this project is two-fold: first, it is in memory of a leader who made a huge impact on our school and our community; and second, it is to carry on the learning and technology that our building needs and that Mr. Stanec wanted for them.
