My Students

You can help engage, enlighten, and empower at-risk students to reach their full potential. Please donate to purchase books and help me reach my goal to reduce drop-out rates and foster a classroom atmosphere of cultural inclusion and acceptance.

My English classes consist of high school students with special needs who live in impoverished communities.

Our school is an alternative school designed to meet the academic and emotional needs of at-risk teens. These kids have been passed along from grade to grade never learning the true value and power of reading, writing, and education in general. They lack the quality reading materials that many students take for granted.

My Project

It’s time to give students the opportunity to reach their full potential and aspire to higher education. It’s time to remind the youth of tomorrow that they can positively impact their communities and the world. I believe that with the proper support and opportunities, all young people have the ability to learn and grow into independent, dynamic and educated adults. The Freedom Writers' Diaries can be used as a transformative tool to engage, enlighten and empower at-risk students to reach their full potential.

My students are truly in need of engaging and interesting reading materials.

Getting them interested and involved in their academics could be the factor that determines their success. Providing my students with fresh materials and meaningful lessons assures they have the resources they need to gain ground and achieve.
