My Students

As chapter books become more complex and contain less images, several students struggle to read and understand books in Language Arts class. I hope to help students learn how to use their imaginations to create images in their minds as they read and to use those images to create a visual storybook.

My students have amazing abilities and the power to create inspiring works of art.

We are a small, close-knit school with a lot to offer our community and the world. With each project my students learn, grow and gain confidence in their own abilities as artists and as individuals.

My Project

Being able to integrate the language arts and visual arts disciplines is an amazing way to help students grow as readers and artists. With the permanent markers and paper being requested, students will have the tools necessary to succeed in both disciplines. The project will teach them how to use their own abilities to aid in their understanding of written and visual texts. This project is a great way to celebrate reading and art!

This project will show students how their art can be useful for themselves and for other students.

It will give them pride in their work as they see other students reading the comic book that they have created and provide inspiration for their peers. They will also learn how to work collaboratively with other students to create a complete book that encompasses all of their artistic styles and ideas. It will be a huge challenge, but it will also have great rewards!
