My Students

I am a first year teacher and the only math tools and supplies I have are borrowed from other teachers. My class would love a variety of independent math materials readily available for them to use in the classroom.

My students are an amazing group of children who come from hardworking, lower middle-class families.

For some of them, school is the only real constant in their lives. My students are enthusiastic, fun-loving and entertaining each day, and they make me want to be a better teacher! I want them to have every opportunity possible to feel successful! I am lucky and honored to be able to lead them during this pivotal time in their educational journey.

My Project

I truly believe all students can learn and need to be challenged when they are in the classroom. To help students become successful in math, I am trying to get grab and play math centers for students to work with, magnetic numbers to identify whole numbers, math materials for students to construct understanding with, and math stamps to help student write their numbers correctly. I try to provide learning opportunities that facilitate creativity and enthusiasm. My classroom math is taught with math centers and math rotations. Students use math materials and tools to interact and understand mathematical skills. Students need to be given multiple opportunities to solve addition and subtraction facts, time to understand whole numbers and their operations, time to practice and discover measurement, and opportunities to compose and decompose shapes.
