Make Reading Enjoyable!

My students need 11 themed collections of books in order to have many new books, which have become their favorites, to add to our classroom library so they can read and enjoy them on their own.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Did you have some favorite books in school? Were these books you picked up and could not put down? Maybe these were books that you read again and again. My students have discovered reading and they have many favorites by now. Research shows that multiple readings of the same books helps develop

These students are eager learners who love school.

However, these students come to a school in an inner city. They come from a socially disadvantaged home. Their families are more worried about taking care of basic needs than about providing books for their children.

My Project

I am requesting many books at the 2nd and 3rd grade level. Many of these books are books that interest my students such as books about friends, families, fiction, and non-fiction. With these books my students will be able to form literature circles, write books reports, write about their favorite characters, books, and authors. More importantly they will be able to read, read, read!

Reading is an important skill that you carry with you your whole life.

Getting lots of opportunities to read and be a successful at it is important. I want to provide many opportunities for my students to read and enjoy reading the point where they will read wherever they go.
