This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need to become immersed in Ancient Islamic culture and learn about the valuable contributions it has provided the world in the areas of art and architecture.

My students love to create and be engaged in the ancient civilizations they study.

We will be learning about Ancient Islamic civilization and its contributions to art and architecture. My 6 & 7 students come from many racial and social-economic backgrounds. They are in California and love art, dance, movement, theater and technology. They attend a charter school that uses a dual-language immersion model. Native and non-native speakers are fluent in English and Spanish. They love to create wonderful works of art. They are friendly, loving and studious. They are also grateful to have wonderful people like you helping them.

My Project

These art materials will allow my students to create architectural models and mosaics. The materials come with lesson plans which are student friendly, interesting and easy to understand. These materials will allow students to create their own designs and demonstrate knowledge of Ancient Islamic art and architecture. Students will have the chance to share their projects with their class and other classrooms. This will be a powerful experience where they can share their new understanding about Islamic culture.

In today's society it is important to have a multicultural perspective and embrace diversity.

This project will allow my students to see the contributions Ancient Islam made to the arts and architecture.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
