Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The important thing in science is not so much to obtain new facts as to discover new ways of thinking about them. ~William Lawrence Bragg
Giving to this project will help the children in my class to learn through hands on experiences about the world that surrounds them.
My students are Pre-Kindergarten students who are all from low income families.
The majority of my students, or I like to call them, my little friends, come from non-English speaking families. These precious children have had very few early learning experiences, which is why they have earned a placement in my classroom. Each of them are very curious about the world around them, and learning through science will help enhance their learning as well as their vocabulary.
My Project
Young children learn best through play and exploration. Having access to more science materials, such as a light panel, color mixing materials and magnet discovery board, will allow my little friends to explore more about the world around them, as well as learn more vocabulary and become more confident in the English Language. Having access to fun and imaginative materials will allow for exciting experiences while learning.
These materials will provide hands on experiences which will allow for free exploration of science discovery and concepts.
Using hands on materials will help my little friends to gain a strong understanding of concepts while learning language, which will provide a lasting educational experience for each of them.
