Learning Science with Graphic Novels: Max Axiom Saves the Day

My students need 34 copies of Max Axiom's Digestive System Journey to learn about the human body in a fun way.

Challenge for middle school: Reading in the Content Areas

With students' reading levels varying from 1st grade to high school, it is truly important to level the playing field by incorporating high interest text for middle school students.

I have ordered every Max Axiom, a modern day Superman, graphic novel and my students love them!

My Project

But only having 1 copy does no good for them. I can only show it on a document camera. Students need to interact with the text. I was able to get a class set of the Photosynthesis edition, but I would like a class set for my Human Body unit. Middle school students are always curious about their own bodies.

The Digestive System edition will allow students to see what their own bodies go through in allowing them to have energy for school each day.

When you can not see inside your body, giving the best models and visuals is the next best thing.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
