My Students

Do you remember finding a book that you could not put down? Do you remember finding a character in a book who was just like you? Our students need these same experiences with books in order to become lifelong readers who love books.

Our students have a love for learning and a thirst for bettering themselves.

They come from families who want the best for them and who want to see them succeed. Many of our students have significant obstacles to overcome, but they come to school ready to learn about the world around them. Their diverse cultural backgrounds offer a wealth of diversity to the school community that is to be celebrated.

My Project

By supporting this project, you will be putting into students' hands books that allow them to engage with text in meaningful ways. All too often, students are asked to read about people who are different than they are. The books in this project will allow students who come from a Hispanic background to read about people who come from similar backgrounds. These students will feel celebrated and honored for their culture and all that it encompasses.

When students can read, they are able to comfortably engage with the world around them.

When students have books to read that are engaging and relevant, they are more likely to continue reading. By supporting this project, you will put relevant, engaging books into kids' hands to enable them to further their love of reading.
