My Students

Science is exciting in the early years. It is the time for students to discover the world through hands on activities and experiments. Light and color are a big part of learning in the kindergarten classroom. We discuss shadows, day, night, and color mixing.

My kindergarten students are full of energy and enthusiasm for learning.

My school is one of two public early education centers in the county. Our school is also a Title 1 school. Each day my students come prepared to learn and are excited about every learning experience. I teach with many hands-on activities to meet the needs of all students.

My Project

Our classroom would love to have a tabletop light panel. My students can use this panel to explore the properties of light. They can use color panels and have the light shine through them to mix the colors to make new colors. The 12 Agate slices have a transparent quality that allows children to see the layers caused by formations. Color and texture variations can open discussions about likes and differences. The What's Inside Animal cards can be placed on the light panel to reveal the skeletal system of the animals! The ideas are endless on how we can use this in our classroom.

With your help the science center will become even more exciting.

I have so many items in my classroom that can be enhanced with the light panel box. I can already picture my students faces "lighting up" when they see how items can be explored using the light panel box. Thank you for helping my classroom become a more hands on environment!
