My Students

I am supposed to teach my students some basic tumbling and other skills such as "falling to one side without hesitating"...but I am hesitating to teach them these skills without some extra padding!

My students are great.

Many come from families without much money to spare, but they are always excited, energetic, and willing to help others. We are a charter school in its 3rd year, and we are focused on expeditionary learning. The students are getting a great education, but, like many new schools, we do not have much leftover in the budget to purchase "luxury" items like a tumbling mat. I would love for my students to get the same opportunities as students at other school. They deserve it.

My Project

This tumbling mat will not only allow me to teach the basic tumbling skills that I need to teach them, it will brighten the lives of my students. I can already see their excited faces when they enter the gym and see that "the mat" is out for an activity. They get so excited to roll around and be on the floor, and now they can do so safely. We can also use this mat for stretching, fitness testing, yoga, and so much more.

This project is not only about just being able to do gymnastics and tumbling-It is about feeling worthy to have it.

When you come from a background of not having much, sometimes you may feel that that is just the way it is-the students are getting an education that will help change their lives, and I think just the addition of this tumbling mat can make them walk a little taller and with a little more bounce to their steps...and a little more bounce is just fine with our new mat to keep us safe!
