Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when you spent time with your family and created a special memory. My students want to share in the opportunity to have fun with their families at our Strong Family nights and create special memories while learning about themselves in the process.

Our students are an amazing group this year.

They are constantly asking for more activities to do as groups and their families. We try to promote a lot of parent involvement activities and have started a new PASSport program (Parents Actively Supporting Students) that strives to bring families together. Our school is a public school in Washington State with about 750 students. Our demographics are around 52% Hispanic and 48% Caucasian, with over 70% having free or reduced lunches. Our students are pushed everyday to work together but don't have the training to do so. We took it upon ourselves to train them and their parents by having special nights designed for fun and growth.

My Project

These resources will allow our PASSport Team (Parents Actively Supporting Students) to create fun and enriching experiences for our students and their families. We want our students to have opportunities to come to school and experience something they never get to do, especially with their families. By having these resources, we get to learn more cooperative games and have some materials to allow families to work together. That gives us a chance to create an environment to help communication and family growth. These materials and resources would greatly boost our Strong Families program and give the lead teachers new ideas and activities for them to provide for our families.

This project will change lives.

These resources will be able to be used for many years and give our students and their families opportunities to experience life together as a family unit and learn more about themselves each time. We hope that these actives will bring their families closer and help to build communication, trust and commitment to each other for the future.
