My Students

When was the last time you ate desserts at a buffet and the delicacies were so numerous, you could hardly contain yourself? My students need a variety of leveled books in our class library to satisfy their desire to read. My students are hungry for knowledge and enjoy learning to read.

My students attend a public school.

They are a diverse group of students who enjoy our community of learning. Many of my students have not traveled beyond the state of North Carolina. They are very creative and enjoy reading with buddies. My students are very proud to be "Fantastic First Graders" who enjoy every opportunity they have to read.

My Project

Our class will benefit from having a variety of books in our class library that are leveled. My students' reading levels range from Level A to I and the books we have now do not provide an adequate selection. Most of my students state that reading is their favorite activity. I want to provide a buffet of resources to continue to engage their interest and desire to read.

It is important that my students have leveled books that match their Lexile levels.

We need a COMPLETE set of leveled books in our class library that is appropriate and that will motivate my students to become successful readers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
