My Students

Our stage equipment is not half as spectacular as our students and their hard work! They deserve to be heard loud and clear. Talking is like playing on the harp; there is as much in laying the hands on the strings to stop their vibration as in twanging them to bring out their music. ~Oliver Holmes

At this Public School the mission is to create a collaborative school community with staff and parents actively involved in the learning process and dynamically engaged in decision making.

The energy at this school is focused on educating the whole child. To do this, our school provides standard-driven instruction, a nurturing environment and the development of social skills, in which is intended to create a community of lifelong learners. The children at this school are smart, energetic and eager to excel in numerous aspects of their lives. Not only do they work hard in their academics but they are engaged in activities such as dance, theater, music, sports and many other activities that enable them to be well rounded and gain wonderful experiences early on in life. These experiences will follow them throughout the many upcoming transitions that they will encounter.

My Project

Having these resources for the students will help enhance their stage performances. Not only do the students here work hard to learn the premise and importance of the story line during performances but they work extremely hard to practice their lines and other dialog. We all know that some elementary students have the ability to project their voices for the entire audience to hear but others do not. It is a shame when the students work so hard yet the audience is not able to hear them speak clearly, which in turn effects the outcome of the performance. I have also seen students who want to try and break out of their shell and audition for a lead role but are not able to carry their voice as loud as others. This in itself hinders students to step out of their comfort zone and it is unfortunate. Students may share the same talent but cannot compete for the same role due to this.

These devices will enhance wonderful and important performances and enable the students to gain self confidence and ownership of their role in a significant way.

As said before,these performances are not only for "show" purposes but to boost students skills, self-esteem and to encompass and achieve the mission of the school. We strive to provide students with opportunities to grow as a person in a positive way in the many aspects of life! All strategies and devices can go a long way!
