Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are growing up in a world where technology is an essential part of everyday life. Yet, many of them do not have computers at home. Fortunately, our classroom received a grant for 10 iPads this year. These 10 iPads are a blessing and we need to protect them.
I teach a very diverse group of students.
Culturally, they have roots in Mexico, Central and South America, India, the Philippines, Korea, Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Iran, and various parts of the United States. Twelve of my twenty-three students are English-language learners. Many of my students come from working class families who have limited resources to invest in their educations. Despite that challenge, my students' parents are involved in their children's educations and my students work hard and are extremely eager to learn.
My Project
The materials you are funding will help me to transform my teaching and my students’ learning. The iPad covers will protect our iPads, allowing students to safely use them to practice math and reading skills, to respond to literature, to complete journal entries, to do research, and much more. The headphones will reduce noise in the classroom and allow students to focus on their own learning. The VGA connector will allow me to guide students in the use of technology by showing them what to do instead of telling them.
My students are growing up in a world where reading and the skilled use of technology are an essential part of everyday life.
In order, to give them the skills and experiences they need for success in this world, we need to provide them with access to cutting-edge technology that is protected for future use. It takes money to do so, and we will not be able to do this without your generosity!
