Origami Builds Brains!

My students need Origami books and paper for brain-building library activities!

My Students

We are a Title One school serving an 85% poverty group of students, grades K-6. Those poverty numbers are increasing due to the tough economic times. Many of our students only eat regular meals when they are at school, due to unstable family life, and some live in shelters.

I try to offer our students extra art activities, as there's always some "down time" in the library.

I have seen our upper grade students doing origami in the classroom, during math time. They LOVE it! It stimulates their creativity, and within a context! It helps them think three-dimensionally as well.

My Project

We have few, old origami books, and they're always checked out. We'd love new ones with origami paper. I'd love to be able to put out origami paper for students to make origami, then display it inside the library, for everyone to see! All supplies cost money, and our tiny PTA has no funds to support this kind of project, and I have no other resources.

Please help our students have the origami supplies to keep creating, as sometimes art falls by the wayside in the schools.

These wonderful library books will also be available for all students to check out and use! Our teachers will love them too! These connections between hands, eyes and brain are essential for our hard-thinking students. Thank you!
