My Students

Have you ever gotten on the Internet and just been overwhelmed with the choices that are facing you? Wouldn't it be helpful to have a library of videos created that take you step by step through the process, showing you what you should see on your computer screen every step on the way.

Despite all this talk of digital natives, many of my students are in homes that are not rich in technological capabilities.

Our school is a public charter school,and pulls from a wide range of socio-economic levels, Regardless of this our students want to be here, and want to be engaged in learning.

My Project

Adobe Captivate allows the user to create online tutorials that can be accessed from any Internet connected computer or mobile phone. This means that I can create and provide my students, parents, and teaching staff with 24 hour access to homework help, step by step guides on how to research and develop school projects, how to access our online databases, lesson planning, and anything that they may use a computer for. I eventually hope to use the students themselves to design and execute these tutorials.

What makes this project great is that it has far reaching impact.

This isn't a project that is going to be used once. The software will allow me to create as many different tutorials and other types of e-learning as our school can think up. If we are truly looking to teach 21st century skills to 21st century learners, then we need to use 21st century tools to get there.
