Book Clubs For Kids

My students need 12 sets of books to read and share with each other in book clubs so that they can discuss them and develop a love of reading.

My Students

Do you look forward to talking about a great book you are reading with a close friend? My students love discussing the books they are reading with their fellow classmates.

The students in my fourth grade class are very social and they love to read good books.

They come to school every day eager and ready to accept the academic challenges that face them. It is my goal to cultivate this eagerness and turn all of my students into lifelong learners.

My Project

My students need 12 sets of books to read and share with each other in book clubs so that they can discuss them and develop a love of reading. The best way to channel the social aspect of my class with their love of reading is to form book clubs. Each student will be placed in a book club of 5-6 six students with similar interests and abilities. It is crucial that students read books that are of interest to them and are a "good fit." A "good fit" book is one that is not too hard and one that is not too easy. When they can get their hands on books that meet these criteria, amazing things can happen. Kids, like adults, can get more out of the books that they are reading if they are allowed to discuss what is happening in the book with friends. I want my students to talk and make discoveries about the books that they are reading. By doing so, their comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and vocabulary will increase. They will learn together, and be even more excited about reading. A great way to become a better reader is to read more. A better way is to read and discuss a good fit book with classmates.

By providing sets of books for book clubs, my students will not only have the chance to become better readers, but they will also be given the chance to learn how to articulate their thoughts about the books they are reading.

Reading opens up so many doors. Help my students visit the world through books.
