My Students

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut! I want my students to live by this quote. Books take you places. Books will take them places but they need the books!

I now teach one block of 6th grade, taking over for a teacher who has left us suddenly.

We are a Title One school with 84% of our students on free or reduced lunch. Our student body is made up of: 60% African American, 9% White, 7% Asian, 19% Hispanic and the rest multiracial.There are 35 students my classroom.

My Project

I am requesting a vast array of books to support my student's learning. With these books, they can complete their independent reading projects and take part in creating their own book blogs and practice their 21st century skills. My students do not all have transportation or access to the public library. Our classroom library will give them access to good books that they can pick up any time that they want to read.

The more students read, the more they learn and exercise their brains.Many of my students do not even own a book.

Please help my students become life long learners. Their future is in your hands.
