Pedometers for PLC

My students need 20 pedometers to track how many steps taken during our Physical Education activities. Also they will use them to track steps taken for an entire day/week.

My Students

Students will have the opportunity to create ways to get more exercise in their day without going to the gym. Also students will log their steps to determine which activities create the best workout.

Our students have been labeled as a possible drop-out.

Our school is a drop out prevention school that uses smaller class size, technology, and community service to create a learning environment that promotes graduation and higher level education. We give students the opportunity to catch up on credits and graduate.

My Project

We do not have a gym, and all activities taught in our school are usually non-traditional. Our school district encourages the use of technology and the use of pedometers would help our students think of technology is more than computers and phones. We would be able to use pedometers during all activities to determine which activities provide the best workout. Also students will have the opportunity to checkout pedometers to log in steps taken for a day and create fitness goals based on their results.

Students in our school need to learn responsibility.

The only way we can do that is to give them opportunities to be responsible. Our students feel empowered when we give them these opportunities, and these activities will give me the chance to teach beyond the classroom.
