My Students

Do you remember when you began the adventure of learning to write essays? My students have dictionaries that are much more advanced than they are. It is hard for them to stay engaged in the learning process when they do not have age appropriate materials. Please help us obtain these items.

This project would serve my fourth graders in a K-8th grade district.

Our tax levy is the lowest in the state of Missouri and our free and reduced lunch rate is over 60%! Although state funding has decreased drastically in Missouri and is anticipated to decline by 20% overall this year, we are continuing to go full steam ahead with our academic endeavors by seeking alternative funding sources for necessary materials for our students.

My Project

By obtaining 25 age appropriate dictionaries and 15 thesauruses, my students will be motivated and not overwhelmed by any writing task they are required to do. It is frustrating for students to try to find out how to spell words only to be overwhelmed by the collegiate dictionaries they have to wait on and share. We need age appropriate materials and we need enough for all students so they are not overwhelmed by the task of writing.

Our district is desperate for help with materials such as the ones I am requesting.

This is a very basic need, but one we cannot currently afford with the level of funding we are receiving. With the economy as it is, we don't feel we can ask parents to financially give anymore. Please consider helping us with our need for age appropriate dictionaries and thesauruses.
